Job Description

Mercury is building financial products to help startups and small businesses scale. We ourselves have done a lot of scaling over the past few years and we’re just getting started!

We give our employees the option to work remotely or from an office (part time or full time). While we love having the flexibility and optionality of a remote set-up, there is nothing that fully replaces the magic and energy you feel when working in an office with your coworkers. Our offices serve as meeting places for cultural events, company planning sessions, or simply a change in scenery for our team. The Workplace and Employee Experience  teams’ main goals are to serve as cultural beacons for each of our offices, and to make the time spent in our offices as special and enjoyable as possible for our team, ideally so much so that people choose to come in all the time!

As the Workplace and Employee Experience Specialist for our NYC office, you’ll take the lead on creating a warm, welcoming, and fun place for people to come together and do their best work.

Here are some things you’ll do:

  • Act as the living embodiment of our cultural values (no pressure)
  • Manage the day-to-day operations in the office with a focus on creating a high-caliber office experience. This includes managing reception, deliveries, furniture, space planning, decor, lunch orders, stocking the kitchen, waste management, repairs & maintenance and office supplies, etc.
  • Plan high-quality events for employees to ensure our local team members are able to build meaningful relationships, including office and company wide celebrations, marking cultural traditions, arranging volunteer opportunities and supporting employee-led group initiatives
  • Plan and host in-office events for external business partners and investors
  • Craft relevant communications and documentation regarding workplace policies, programs and events for local employees
  • Negotiate and manage the relationship with our landlord and facilities vendors including cleaning services, maintenance contractors, food/beverage etc.
  • Manage building access and ensure we remain compliant with workplace safety expectations and requirements
  • Support space planning, office expansions, and layout changes as required, including the coordination of office moves
  • Support the Workplace teams’ goals by taking on ad hoc tasks and projects as they arise
  • Work closely with local site leadership team to plan office events that create engagement, connection, and an inclusive environment
  • Make sure the office is clean, things stay in their proper places, and keep interior design looking sharp
  • Coordinate activities, office visits and meetings for employees traveling in from afar

Because we’re growing quickly, some experience in a similar role would probably be helpful, but don’t let lack of experience stop you from applying if you’re a quick study. You should also:

  • A background you feel is equivalent to the above
  • Be extremely detail-oriented
  • Enjoy being around people and bringing others together
  • Appreciate optimizing processes and thinking about how to automate your job
  • Have a strong preference for working with great tools, and be comfortable working with or learning the tools we use
  • Have a system for staying organized and a good head for numbers
  • Have a great 'no-job-is-too-small' attitude
  • Have diverse interests and enjoy learning about other people’s interests
  • Enjoy keeping up with the NYC food scene
  • Listen with patience, attention, and empathy
  • Have a sense of humor (doesn’t have to be a good one)

Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry, and all employees receive salary + equity + benefits. Individual pay decisions are based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company. The ranges shared are for the expectations as laid out in the job description, however we are often open to a wide variety of profiles, and recognize that the person we hire may be less experienced or more senior than this job description as posted. If that ends up being the case, the updated salary range will be communicated with you as a candidate.

Salary range for candidates in the New York City area is: $89,000 - $102,500
