As the Manager, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI), this role will have the opportunity to build on a solid foundation and shape the future of what DEI means for one of the world’s leading pension funds and leave a legacy for years to come.
This role is responsible for supporting and/or managing the Enterprise DEI strategy, including support on a divisional and departmental level for our employees, as well as with key partners across the organization, both internally (ex. DEI Council, ERGs) and externally (ex. DEI partnerships).
Reporting to the Director, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, as a key member of the DEI Team, you will collaborate and provide recommendations to a wide variety of partners both internally (ex. Marketing and Communications, Legal, People Operations, etc.) and externally (ex. Investor Leadership Network, Catalyst, BlackNorth, etc.) in partnership with People & Culture Business Partners, the Talent Acquisitions team and Talent and Leadership Development team.
Work closely with the Director, DEI to partner with global senior leadership, our DEI Council as well as our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to act as an advisor and execute on our DEI strategy to align our DEI agenda to our cultural transformation and strategic talent priorities.
Partner with internal People & Culture and corporate teams (People Advisory, Talent, Talent Acquisition, Transformation, Total Rewards, People Operations, Marketing & Communications, Legal, Privacy and Compliance) to execute on DEI initiatives.
Provide advisory support directly to the business and/or through People and Culture Business Partners on ad-hoc requests and key focus areas of our DEI strategy.
Support and build on our inclusive culture through authentic communications and training, demonstrating outstanding interpersonal skills with proven ability to understand multiple perspectives.
Support the Director, DEI as they partner with Investment teams and portfolio companies to co-create impactful solutions that advance DEI progress.
Manage the portfolio of key global external DEI partnerships (e.g. Investor Leadership Network, Women in Capital Markets, Catalyst, Black North Initiative etc.) and drive increased awareness and engagement of employees, which includes relationship management, coordination between external and internal partners, negotiating partnerships, etc.
Influence, coach and develop DEI capability in leaders across Ontario Teachers’ by mobilizing colleagues and the business to build accountability with different communities.
Manage the Employee Resource Groups, including ensuring coordination across activities, managing the broader ERG budget, and supporting on the development and execution of ERG events and initiatives throughout the year.
Lead the organization and execution of large-scale events and programs related to organizational days of significance in partnership with our ERGs and the marketing and communications team.
Support DEI Director with successful delivery of DEI strategic refresh and scorecard items including review of DEI data reporting and finding opportunities for automation and efficiency.
Supports departmental, divisional and enterprise performance reporting as it relates to DEI measures and outcomes.
Support sharing of methodologies, implementation of strategies and tactics with a focus on data and reporting and accountability both within Teachers’ and across the pension/financial services industry.
Work with DEI Director to identify, coordinate and deliver training/education needs to support future DEI strategic priorities (as identified) including conducting a variety of research projects as needed.
Help find opportunities for DEI differentiation (or gaps) from industry peers by conducting standard methodology research and benchmarking to provide recommendations and enhancements.
Work alongside DEI Director and in partnership with Marketing and Communications on communications strategy to support our DEI initiatives.
Support DEI Director with budget review to ensure alignment across the portfolio of initiatives.
Project management across a diverse and complex portfolio
High proficiency in both PowerPoint, Excel (ideally PowerBI as well)
Strong written and verbal communicator with keen attention to detail
Ability to story tell through PowerPoint and convert discussion into effective meeting slides / minutes afterwards
Bachelor’s degree in related field (required)
Knowledge and understanding of DEI terms/concepts
Specific knowledge and experience with anti-racism and anti-oppression frameworks and initiatives, Indigenous reconciliation action plans and accessibility in the workplace programs is preferred
Solid understanding of financial services
Experience in Human Resources, Human Capital Consulting with solid knowledge and working experience leading DEI initiatives, anti-racism related initiatives and training programs (3-5 years preferred)

Strong project management and organizational skills with a high attention to detail including technical ability (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerBI)
