The opportunity

We are hiring an Analyst within our Risk Division! As an Analyst, you will be responsible for performing ad hoc research projects to support risk assessment on new investments, monitor and collect data for new and existing assets to provide analytics when required, as well as support new and existing Investment Committee and Board deliverables. You will work towards developing relationships across all private portfolios within the fund.  You will also be collaborating with peers across Risk and private investment groups. The role requires a combination of technical, analytical and organizational skills. The Analyst must also have very strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills to articulate ideas, discuss issues and recommendations internally. A drive to improve existing processes and great attention to detail are desired.

Who you'll work with

This role report to the Managing Director, Private Assets Advisory, Risk. You will be working directly with other groups in Risk such as Risk Modelling and Policy, as well as other functional groups outside of Risk such as Finance, Valuations, Tax, and Legal. You may also be required to work directly with deal teams in Equities, Infrastructure & Natural Resources, and Teachers’ Venture Growth., across all global offices in Toronto, London, San Francisco, Mumbai, Hong Kong and Singapore.

What you'll do

  • Provide daily news updates related to the private portfolios

  • Maintain databases with information from weekly underwriting and portfolio monitoring committee meetings across Equities,  Infrastructure & Natural Resources and Teachers’ Venture Growth

  • Maintain internal database for team to track conferences and workshops and share learnings

  • Coordinate team communication and updates to ensure alignment

  • Support senior members of the team in conducting risk assessment of individual investments ahead of Investment Committee meetings.

  • Perform ad hoc research projects

  • Work with teams both internal and external to Risk to support organizational strategy and enterprise and liquidity planning.

  • Assist in reporting to the Investment Committee and Board of Directors.

  • Work cross-functionally with other teams to ensure continued alignment with OTPP’s mission, vision and values. This includes supporting and sharing knowledge with other areas of Risk

What you'll need

  • 1+ year of research, valuation, or support experience in private investments and familiarity with private asset financial and LBO models

  • A degree in Business, Economics, Mathematics, or Engineering

  • A professional designation, such as CFA, CBV, CA, or CAIA, would be considered an asset.

  • Advance knowledge of excel and macros would be considered an asset.

  • Basic understanding of the financial markets, valuation and capital structuring

  • Excellent communication and writing skills, strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
